Abstract

|
|
The acute toxicity and the sedative action of spinosin isolated from Zizyphus seeds have been tested with mice. Spinosin possessed a very weak toxicity and at relatively high dose showed a significant sedative action in a ladder-climbing test, a potentiation of hexobarbital-induced hypnosis and an antagonistic effect on caffeine-induced hyperactivity.
